Description:
Habit: A small deciduous or evergreen tree, growing up to 15 meters tall.
Bark & Exudate: Features finely fissured brown bark and yields a scanty, black sap.
Leaves: Alternate, simple, leathery, and dark green uniquely lanceolate and reddish brown in young stage.
Flowers & Fruit: Small, polygamous (unisexual or bisexual) white flowers borne in rusty, velvety-hairy racemes, developing into fleshy, spherical drupes
Uses: It is primarily used in traditional medicine for its antimicrobial, anti-diabetic, and
anti-inflammatory properties, while its fruits are locally harvested to make pickles.
